A packing slip (US) or delivery note (UK / Australia) travels with the goods and lists exactly what was shipped. It does not show prices - that information belongs on the invoice. The recipient checks the contents against the slip and signs it as proof of delivery.
What to include on a packing slip
- Your business details and a packing-slip or delivery-note number
- The customer’s billing details and the ship-to address
- The PO or order number so the shipment can be matched to the order
- Each item with the quantity shipped
- Ship date and a received-by / signature line
Packing slip vs invoice
The packing slip confirms what was physically delivered; the invoice requests payment. Create both from the same details - enter the items once, then switch documents under the preview.
